Cedar Boughs

img_2817

Infused with the divinity of nature
I smell of cedar boughs
as I walk by
the wind catches my scent
and shares the forest with you.

Your eyes glance down
and rest on my muddy shoes,
confirming I’ve been out
gallivanting with the trees.

You tug at your collar
and turn forest green with envy,
longing to be the splatters of dirt
atop my skin.

I take your hand
and offer the chance to recapture
your youth,
inviting you to come play in the woods
and get dirty with me.

    1. That’s so beautiful! Made me pine for the woods of the pacifiPacific Northwest—a place I was proud to call home for 12 years!
